Yes, Online Tobacco Training LLC is certified by the New York State Department of Health and is the first program to offer tobacco training exclusively on-line.
Q: Do I have to attend a scheduled class in person?
No. Our program enables you and your employees to complete our certification program any time of day, from any location. All you need is a computer with internet access.
Q: After I complete the program, what else do I need to do?
It is important for you to remember that once you complete the on-line course, you must print out and complete the required training certificate. You must also fax the certificate to us for review. Once we make sure everything is in order, we will send you a copy of the completed certificate for your records.
IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE CERTIFICATE TO US, YOU WILL NOT BE DEEMED TO HAVE COMPLETED THE COURSE.
Q: If I take the course after having sold tobacco to a minor, can I still use the certificate to reduce fines and points from the sale?
No. In order to use the training certificate to reduce fines and points from the sale of tobacco to a minor you must have completed the course >prior to the sale. We recommend you and your employees each complete the course now to receive the benefits of having a valid training certificate.
Q: Does my training certificate expire?
Yes. The training certificate is good for three (3) years.
Q: Can I take my training certificate with me to another employer?
No. Training certificates are issued for your present employment. If you change jobs, you must be re-certified.
Q: Can I take your course without having a job?
Yes. Anyone can take this course to receive valuable training for preventing the sale of tobacco to minors. However, in order to receive the benefits of a reduction in fines and points offered by New York State, you must re-take the course when you are employed.
Q: What does the program cover?
The program will provide you with a detailed overview of current tobacco laws that restrict the sale of tobacco to minors; applicable laws regarding the sale of tobacco, how to comply with the law; how to avoid fines and available resources and information.
Q: Can more than one person take the course?
We recommend that all of your employees take the course, however we charge full price for each employee.
